Jensen Huang, the CEO of NVIDIA, emphasizes the need to accelerate the development of artificial intelligence (AI) to make it safer. In a discussion with Goldman Sachs Asset Management, he stated that “safety requires technology.” He compared advancements in AI to improvements in the safety of passenger cars, highlighting how OpenAI’s ChatGPT, with reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF), works to produce safer and more effective responses. Huang cited other AI technologies contributing to safety and stressed the importance of such technologies.
He rejected the idea of universal regulation for AI, arguing that AI should be regulated within specific industries. Huang sees significant potential for generative AI to drive growth in many businesses, especially among large software providers. “My guess is that AI will be most helpful to the providers of today’s services and applications,” he said. NVIDIA, known for its graphics processors, plays a crucial role in developing such AI models.
